Position Overview
The Facilities Manager oversees the maintenance, operation, repair, and improvement of our extensive facilities. The ideal candidate will possess great communication skills verbally and in writing, technical expertise in maintaining commercial buildings, problem-solving abilities, and a deep commitment to providing exceptional customer service in accordance with the teachings of the Catholic Church.

The primary role of this position is attending to the parish property including buildings, grounds, and infrastructure ensuring they are well-maintained and properly prepared for use through scheduling and supervising the maintenance, cleaning, security, and use. Maintaining compliance with health and safety regulations and standards that include fire prevention is essential. Experience on measures to improve efficiency and cost effectiveness for facilities use will prove to be beneficial. Preferred candidate is a practicing Catholic in good standing. As with all parish roles, this is a confidential position requiring a high degree of discretion, organizational planning, and performance of high-level administrative duties that require self-initiative, knowledge, judgment, and tact.

Key Responsibilities
-Manage the day-to-day operations of the parish facilities, including scheduling and overseeing maintenance repairs, improvements, renovations, and facilities staff.

-Develop and implement comprehensive maintenance plans to ensure the safety, functionality, and aesthetic appeal of all buildings and grounds.

-Coordinate with external vendors, contractors, and service providers for specialized maintenance and construction projects.

-Utilize the use of technology to maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, equipment inventory, and budgetary expenditures, supplies, project status, and facilities use.

-Serve as the primary point of contact for facility-related inquiries, concerns, and requests from parishioners, staff, and community members.

-Foster a culture of hospitality and service by responding to all requests with kindness, empathy, and a Christ-like attitude.

-Conduct regular inspections of facilities to identify maintenance needs, safety hazards, and opportunities for improvement.

-Develop and manage the facilities budget, ensuring cost-effective solutions without compromising quality or safety.
Lead and supervise a team of maintenance staff and volunteers, providing guidance, support, and training as needed.

-Stay informed about industry best practices, building codes, and regulations related to commercial construction and maintenance.

Knowledge of the practices, methods, and equipment utilized in commercial building and facility maintenance, construction, and repair activities; including basic skills and abilities related to plumbing, janitorial, electrical systems, painting, carpentry, construction, and heating and air conditioning systems. Maintenance and technician certifications are preferred.

Minimum of (2) years in facilities management or related occupation; Experience in one or more of the technical areas of HVAC, Electrical, Electronics, Plumbing, Locksmith, Security Controls, Gardening & Landscaping, Construction, or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the duties and responsibilities of the position as outlined above.

Physical Demands
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to safely and successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Employee must be comfortable performing physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as climbing, bending, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and handling of materials. Using hands and arms in handling, installing, positioning, and moving materials, and manipulating things. Ability to lift/carry, up to approximately 75 pounds frequently, and occasional lifting/carrying of equipment weighing up to approximately 100 pounds may be required. Physical mobility and endurance to perform tasks while standing/walking for long periods of time (60 minutes or more). Visual abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
