About The Fates
The Fates is the maiden showroom of Precious Ghost, a local, woman-owned fine jewelry brand. Precious Ghost is a semi-custom collection of striking and feminine future heirlooms made to last lifetimes, for those who appreciate the classic, collect the eclectic, and respect a commitment to mastery. After years of experience in the jewelry industry, we’re taking our brand into the retail sphere and setting up a brick and mortar in downtown Nevada City located in the National Hotel. The Fates will carry not only the Precious Ghost brand, but also a thoughtfully curated collection of jewelry made by independent designers. Our values are oriented around making the people who receive our jewelry pieces feel special, creating physical objects that represent the love between two people, working with clients who are kind, honest, trusting and enjoyable to create with, and using ethically sourced gemstones and business practices.

Position Summary
Our dream Sales Associate at the Fates will have a natural inclination to building relationships, an eye and enthusiasm for personal style, and a vibrant personality. Though the Fates is a fine jewelry retail space that upholds a standard of professionalism, expertise, and care - we are also a playful, energetic, and creative person-centric brand. The Sales Associate is there to assist customers through selecting and purchasing jewelry by offering advice on styles, providing product information and specifications, and handling transactions. While we will provide in-house training, we would love someone with experience in fine jewelry and knowledge on precious gemstones. Reimagining the sales personality, we are looking for someone who is dynamic, self-motivated, ambitious, and authentic.

Specific Duties Include
-Guiding customers through the Fates experience by offering product knowledge, aesthetic input, and considerate communication.
-Maintaining the appearance and inventory of the jewelry display and showroom.
-Following store policies and procedures regarding security, safety, and loss prevention.
-Consultations with clients in regards to custom designs
-Brainstorming and creating content for social media in collaboration with Precious Ghost marketing.
-Building relationships with customers and community as a representative of the Fates and the Precious Ghost brand.
-Proactively engaging with sales goals for the team goal of growing the Precious Ghost brand.
-Acting as a point of contact between customers and the bench jeweler team to pass on any requests, feedback, etc.
-Providing after-sales service such as wrapping, cleaning retail space

Essential traits
-Strong communication and interpersonal skills, both verbally and written.
-Passionate about helping people, social engagement and building relationships with community.
-Intuitive, adaptive sales skills for approaching people in a friendly, authentic manner.
-Eager to share knowledge and learn about fine jewelry, gemstones, etc.
-Creative problem-solver who enjoys identifying opportunities for growth, efficiency, and expression.
-Reliably able to manage time, projects, and schedule.

Preferred Skills and Qualifications
-Experience in a fine-jewelry sales position.
-Training from the Gemological Institute of America (GIA)
-Knowledge of precious gemstones, metals, and fine jewelry.
-Computer proficiency wit
-Experience operating and troubleshooting Point of Sale systems.
-An understanding and respect for inclusion and diversity.
-Experience in graphic design and social media creation, especially as it pertains to marketing.

Physical Expectations
-Able to stand for up to 8 hours a day, including sitting or standing at a sales counter.
-Able to clearly communicate in various ways (in person, on phone, in writing).
-Able to occasionally lift objects weighing up to 30 pounds.

This position will start at a wage of $22-30 an hour with an additional 3% earnings on commission. It is essential that you be paid a livable wage, but you also have the opportunity to earn more based on your motivation for sales. (Benefits?)

This position will start on a part-time basis of 16-22 hours a week with the possibility to be full time in the future, dependent on how successful employment feels both to the employee and employer.
