I purchased a used Japanese import Subaru engine, with approx. 62,000 miles and is usable on Subaru vehicles between production years 2008-2010.
I bought the engine for my 2007 Forester, and while the engine is in every bit of excellent condition that I anticipated it to be, it uses an individual ignition coil system, where as my Forester uses an ignition coil pack. Because of this difference, the length of the spark plug wells are different, and my ignition coils don't seat properly in the new ignition wells.
If you have a Subaru in this year-range with individual ignition coils, I highly recommend this very clean, very low mileage, and excellent condition engine. It was heart-breaking to realize it wasn't going to work for me.
Feel free to email me with any more questions, and if I can't answer them myself, I'll pass your question along to my mechanic who attempted the install, and get back to you with his response.
