Update 11/4/2019: If you purchase this bike before 11/06/2019 I will take $550 cash.
My son bought this Virago because he wanted to do build a bobber as his first custom motorcycle project, but he came to the conclusion that with full time work load and college courses he really had no time to build this bike out like he wanted to. Here are the plusses that I saw for this particular bike:
Only 16,000 miles on it. Very low seat height that would make it great for beginners and shorter riders as well as low for the true “Bobber” look. The wheels are really decent with some very very minor surface rust so with some polishing those wheels will look great. The overall condition is really nice.
Someone started to build it out but gave up on it. What they did was the exact opposite of his and my intentions and not that great. Very superficial cosmetic stuff and thankfully that was the extent so the internals should be phenomenal. Our plan was to take this bike down to the frame, cut off un-needed parts and attachment tabs etc. Then clean the frame and powder coat it. I had a tank picked out for it and we would replace the fake tank on top. As you can see the real tank is under the seat and the tiny tank on top is a fake.
It did run when the prior owner brought it in from another state, but he never did anything with it other than start to take it apart. I think since these bike are known to go over 100k with little maintenance required it makes a nice project bike for someone else looking to get a budget build going. My thought was the motor looks visually ideal for a Bobber and with a little work could be an ideal bike to showcase on bikeexif.com. The motors are always the $$$ pit and this one should be in good shape. He paid $650 for and he hopes to get that back, but he will consider offers to a certain point. I was going to help him build this bike out and if he cannot get the right price I will probably take it over from him and do it myself. Its a really good start for someone that can do all the work and is good at mechanics and fabrication. There is a clean title in hand which is another bonus.
