condition: excellent
fuel: gas
odometer: 86346
title status: clean
transmission: automatic
This rare 1940 Mercury Convertible Club Coupe, one of 9,741 produced, is an all-steel street rod that has been in the family for 20 years. The Carson top has been chopped 3 inches and is easily removable. The dual bench seat interior is upholstered in blue vinyl. The 351-cubic inch Cleveland V8 has been rebuilt and equipped with aftermarket performance parts. The transmission is a Ford C4 automatic, and the rear end is a 9-inch Ford unit mounted on parallel leaf springs. The front suspension is independent Mustang II-style. The 351-cu.in. OHV V8 has been rebuilt and has accumulated minimal but unspecified miles since then. Engine upgrades include a Crane camshaft, Edelbrock intake manifold, Carter 625-cfm carburetor, Mallory Unilite ignition, Pete Jackson quiet gear drive, block hugger headers, and DeTomaso valve covers. The engine fires up effortlessly! The rear end is a Ford 9-inch of unspecified gear ratio. The solid steel body was painted over 10 years ago and remains as "very high quality" with no issues. The hood is louvered and the car has traditional pinstriping. The blue vinyl upholstery is said to be in "perfect" shape and the carpet and headliner are perfect. The car has a working heater but no air conditioning. All the gauges work well as do the manual windows and locks. The stereo has been upgraded and the car has seatbelts. The car drives "straight down the road" with no suspension issues and “great brakes.” The P205/60R15 front and the P225/70R15 rear tires are BFGoodrich Radial T/As of 2018. The steel wheels have Mercury hub caps with trim rings and no curb rash or highway vibrations. There is a blemish on the lower grille panel from a steep driveway incursion. Clean California title. This rare all-steel 1940 Mercury convertible street rod is available because the owner's husband passed away.

May be open to trades.
