Mid 19th century four post bed frame with brass wheels. 78" long, 41" wide & 88" tall. It's in pretty good shape, but some minor cosmetic restoration would be worthwhile.
I purchased the bed from a descendant of the original owners, who believed it dates to the 1860s or earlier, possibly to the 1830s in Vermont. He recalled the original straw filled mattress was thrown away about 40 years ago.
I think the style suggests the American Empire period, which lends credence to the 1830s speculation.
